Day 13 (November 5, 2008)

Nathan’s feeds are up 14 mL every 2 hours, and he should be on full feeds by midnight tonight.  They have stopped his lipids, and they had planned to remove the IV soon.  It started to leak this evening, so the nurse took it out early.  Since he is almost at full feeds and mere grams from attaining his birth weight, he should be okay without it.

The scab under his nose from the ventilator fell off today, and apparently his nose looks great.   Sadly, I didn’t see Nathan today.  Rob and the boys are all a little under the weather, and I am terrified of passing anything along unknowingly.  I don’t think I’m getting sick, but I just want to be wise about it.  This is the first day that I haven’t been in to see him at all, though, and I miss him terribly!  Please pray that Rob and the boys will return to full health quickly and that I will be able to remain healthy.

We are still awaiting the results of the diagnostic bloodwork.  We had hoped that it would come back earlier, but apparently not.  Now we await the results of two things tomorrow!  I am feeling quite anxious tonight; please pray that I sleep well tonight and that I will not worry about the results.  Please continue to pray for good, normal results from Nathan’s brain ultrasound and his bloodwork.  Please pray that tomorrow’s consultation with Nathan’s doctor will go well.

Weigh-in: 1441 grams, just shy of 3 lbs 3 oz.  Nathan’s birth weight was 1460 grams, so he is just about there!

  1. I’m praying for you and Robi during this time as well as your boys. My parents went through a lot of what your going through with me. I came in at 30 weeks back in 1979. Although I was the child who caused my parents about 2 months of constant worry, I know that from their experience it is extremely hard relax. You better believe that my family is definately keeping all of you in prayer.

I love Karen and Robi and your boys. God Bless ~ Nicci
